Lockington resident Marie Dockerey is getting the town ready for Christmas.

Lockington resident Marie Dockerey has spent the past week painting giant santas as part of her town’s Christmas decorations.

Four of the 10 santas will be placed at the town entrances and the others spread throughout the town.

Lockington resident Des Pentreath salvaged the decorations 10 years ago after he noticed Campaspe Shire was taking them to the tip.

Mr Pentreath fitted them with iron poles to fix to the ground and sides of buildings.

He then took them to Lockington artist Marie Dockerey, who transformed the plainly decorated santas into what they are today.

This is her first year repainting them since 1992.
