Rochester’s Campaspe River Walk users and maintenance volunteers are angry at the destruction left by vandals at a bonfire site on Friday morning.
Campaspe River Reserve Committee volunteer Ali Poort said she was devastated to learn the newly installed signs and a photo of the river in flood were damaged, a gate post was knocked over, the glass in the noticeboard under the Rochester bridge was smashed, 25 newly planted trees were scattered across the area and trees destroyed.
Mrs Poort said she was really angry at the vandals’ lack of respect for walkers and volunteers.
‘‘They have no respect and don’t realise how many people walk along the river,’’ she said.
‘‘I can’t understand the stupidity of it.’’
