Country Women’s Association’s Nanneella Nights held its second official meeting on Thursday.
The group agreed to conduct a toy drive to help the Echuca Salvation Army replace toys destroyed by fire earlier this month.
The toys were earmarked for children in need at Christmas.
Nanneella Nights will set up a drop-off point where district residents can donate new and good quality used toys.
The group got to know one another and discussed sending parcels to Timor for pregnant women.
Mentor Helen Christie explained how mothers in the developing country gave birth on bare soil and needed plastic sheets, razor blades to cut the umbilical cord, baby outfits and nappies.
The group discussed fundraising ideas to get these packs together.
She gave the group a rundown on other small gestures her group, the Campaspe CWA did over the years such as making pillows for women overcoming a mastectomy and crocheting rugs for the elderly.
President Mandy Keenan discussed fundraising ideas such as book sales and raffles.
The group will meet again November 21 and new members are welcome.
