John Wallis thinks this insect looks like a cross between a wasp and a dragonfly.

Can anyone tell us what this insect is?

Nanneella resident John Wallis was puzzled when he found this unusual insect in his house.

‘‘It’s like a cross between a wasp and a dragonfly,’’ he said.

‘‘I’ve never seen anything like it.’’

He took it to the Rochester Veterinary Clinic where staff were just as puzzled.

‘‘We have no idea what it is,’’ owner Keith Fletcher said. Mr Wallis is taking his unidentified insect to the Department of Environment and Primary industries to find out what it is.
