Many of the visitors came from Bendigo and Shepparton and some district residents also took day trips to the lake during the holidays.
Visitors enjoyed boating activities such as jet-skiing and water-skiing.
As of yesterday, Rochester police had no reports of any trouble this year.
Last year some scuffles among revellers broke out on New Year’s Eve, which was broken up by police.
