Flood help for fence repairs

District farmers and other rural property owners are being reminded by Campaspe Shire that help is still available to re-instate boundary fencing damaged by the January 2011 floods.

By Nikala Dixon

Campaspe Shire mayor Kevin Simpson said Rochester Rotary Club had been helping farmers repair or replace boundary fences across the shire since February last year and was still available to help those who may need it.

‘‘It’s important for rural property owners to know they can still get help to fix their damaged boundary fencing,’’ he said.

‘‘The property owner only needs to supply the fencing materials and the volunteers will provide the necessary labour to get the job done.’’

Cr Simpson said there was also funding available through the North Central Goulburn Broken Catchment Management Authorities for fencing.

Farmers who need assistance, or people interested in helping with fencing repairs or replacement can phone Rochester Rotary president Graeme Nelson on 0428842008.

Council’s rural co-ordination officer Dani Ruedin can also provide advice to farmers and other residents living in rural areas on who to speak with and help with recovery and re-establishing resident’s livelihoods after the floods.

For information, phone Ms Ruedin on 1300666535.
