An Elmore sheep producer was fined $6000 in the Bendigo Magistrates Court after pleading guilty to offences under the Livestock Disease Control Act last week.

The Department of Environment and Primary Industries said the offences related to breaches of the National Livestock Identification System (Sheep and Goats) and occurred on April 8 at the Bendigo Livestock Exchange in Huntly.

Prosecutor for the DEPI Adrian Serratore told the court the accused failed to provide a correctly completed National Vendor Declaration before or at the time of arrival of the consignment of nonvendor bred sheep, which was a requirement of a Mob Based Movement Order.

Mr Serratore said the accused had also failed to record on the declaration the Property Identification Codes printed on all ear tags attached by the previous owners in the consignment or alternatively, attach pink post-breeder tags stamped with the PIC of dispatch.
