Kyabram Police Acting Sergeant Shane Walker said the woman, 29, was driving a red Ford Falcon north on McEwen Rd when it collided with a Volvo tip truck about 3.45
The crash occurred near the intersection of McCormick Rd.
Sergeant Walker said the woman was trapped in her vehicle for about 20 minutes while police and Country Fire Authority members worked to free her.
Three other children aged between 2 and 10 years of age were also travelling in the car.
Sergeant Walker said the driver of the truck, a Leitchville man, 46, was unhurt.
He will receive a penalty notice for failing to give way.
