Kyabram's Eric Saunders received a shock upon unearthing a 10kg sweet potato in his garden.

Lancaster resident Eric Sanders received quite a shock after digging up a 10kg sweet potato in his garden.

The retired Mr Sanders said this was the second year he had grown the vegetable, but he did not expect the monster potato.

‘‘I’ve never seen anything so big,’’ he said.

‘‘I spoke with a few people and they have never heard of one this size. I got the all clear that it should be good to cut up and eat though.’’
