Kyabram Toy Library
Kyabram Toy Library will have more toys than ever in 2012
By Michael MaskellKyabram Toy Library has extended the range of toys available for its members to borrow in 2012 after securing new funding.
Grants received from Kyabram Rotary Club and Shepparton-based United Way Community Fund have been used to purchase a bicycle and a number of new toys for toddlers and younger children.
The toy library is based at Kyabram Branch Library in Lake Rd, Kyabram and stocks a wide range of toys to suit different age groups.
Group member Naomi Cartwright said the toy library currently has quite a lot of bulky toys which many people may not have room to store at home.
‘‘The toy library offers parents the chance to try out different toys and see how their children find them before they consider buying,’’ Mrs Cartwright said.
‘‘It also gives families the opportunity to borrow something different every two weeks as children can quickly get bored playing with the same toys all the time.’’
The toy library provides a great opportunity for parents and carers to meet up and for children to interact and socialise with each other.
The group has around 20 families enrolled as members and has helped many people new to the town make friends and find out about more about what is available in the area.
Kyabram Toy Library’s opening hours for 2012 will be Friday and Saturday mornings from 10.30am to 11.30am with the first main session for the year taking place on Friday, January 20.
The toy library will be holding its AGM on Thursday, January 19 at Hurley’s Hotel, starting at 8pm.
Anyone interested, including parents, grandparents and carers, is encouraged to come along.
A number of committee members from last year are standing down and the group is in need of assistance to help run what is a valuable local community resource. For more information about Kyabram Toy Library, please contact Naomi Cartwright on 0419
