Homelessness and its associated challenges are an increasing concern from evidence seen by St Vincent de Paul Society St Augustine’s Conference Kyabram.

Conference treasurer Michael Villani said the local charitable organisation’s monthly outlay was between $10000 and $12000.

‘‘Most of our assistance is with food vouchers, travel, accommodation, pharmacy and utility bills, small food parcels and Christmas vouchers,’’ Mr Villani said.

‘‘The number of people needing help seems to be increasing.’’

Records show that in the year ending May 1994, Kyabram Conference members visited 361 families, assisted 664 people, gave out food orders worth $17057 and other assistance to the value of $5325.
