Gas line struck in Kyabram

Contractors strike a gas pipeline on Allan St.

June 4, 2014 3:30am

Country Fire Athority volunteers were called to a gas leak in the front yard of a house in Allan St today.

Police had to close off a section of Allan St yesterday morning after contractors struck a gas pipeline.

The incident occurred at 9.30am when contractors working at 18 Allan St and using a Dingo digger to build a fence struck the gas pipe.

Police closed off Allan St for about an hour until the leak could be assessed and repaired. The nearby BP service station was also closed for the duration.

Police said the men were doing the right thing and had used ‘‘Dial Before You Dig’’ before beginning work, but miscommunication lead to the incident.
