AFL umpire in Kyabram tonight

Australian Football League umpire, Kyabram raised Matthew Leppard will be guest speaker at tonight’s Rotary Club of Kyabram meeting.

Australian Football League umpire, Kyabram raised Matthew Leppard will be in town tonight.

He will be the guest speaker at tonight’s Rotary Club of Kyabram meeting at 6.30pm at Kyabram Parkland Golf Club.

Leppard, son of Kyabram Rotarian Wayne, started his umpiring career with the Goulburn Valley Umpires Association and has now become one of the country’s most sought after umpires.

With over 31 games under his belt since umpiring his first AFL match in 2011, Leppard is known for his integrity, fair umpiring and the ability to relate to others during a game.

Arguably the toughest role on the field, field umpires are rigorously tested and undergo extensive physical and mental preparation before being given the privilege of umpiring a match.

Leppard, who works during the day as a risk analyst, enjoys the challenge of umpiring and the satisfaction it provides.

While umpires do not always curry favour with the supporters, they do have an important role to play in ensuring a safe environment for all participants.

The public are welcome to attend Leppard’s presentation tonight.

A barbecue will be provided for guests from 6.30pm at a cost of $10 per person or $20 per family followed by the presentation at 7pm.
