Tooborac Fire Brigade visited Tooborac Primary School last Tuesday to help the school complete its bushfire emergency management plan.

School principal James Tension-Woods said parents and students attended the session.

‘‘Having everyone together was important to communicate and co-ordinate our responses in the event of bushfire,’’ he said.

‘‘The students were surprisingly knowledgeable about how to respond in the event of a bushfire.

‘‘We have had two drills this term to practice our response in the event of an emergency and students were very quick and calm in their reactions.

‘‘Students also enjoyed exploring the fire truck and all its lights, sirens and hoses.

‘‘The school community feels relieved that we have a defendable and secure place to shelter in the event of an emergency and that everyone knows what will happen.’’
