Third 'snag beer and bubble' festival gears up
District residents can get ready for another great day out in Heathcote when the gates open for the third annual ‘Snag Beer and Bubble Fest’ on March 17.
Part of the Melbourne Food and Wine Festival’s 20th anniversary celebrations, the event will see more than 20 microbrew beers, 10 craft-ciders and almost as many sparkling wines from the Heathcote region and beyond available to try, taste and take home.
Accompanying the brewers and winemakers, local paddock-to-plate producers of beef, lamb and pork will work behind barbecues for people to sample their produce.
Following the success of last year’s beer tasting workshops led by Tim Baxter, of The Dispensary, a cider tasting class has been added to the festival bill.
‘Cider re-visited’ will allow participants to taste local and international ciders to learn more about this previously overlooked and, now, popular beverage.
Free cooking demonstrations will take place over the day, including a sausage-making demonstration from Erindale Farm who will demonstrate how to break down a lamb to get your favourite cuts.
Warialda Belted Galloway stud will also share its tips on cooking the perfect steak or the perfect roast.
Musician Bianca Maes has again co-ordinated the live music line-up, which will feature two of her favourites from Melbourne and two local bands.
Activities for the kids will be provided by the Heathcote Community House afterschool program, and snag free food will also be available.
The Heathcote Showgrounds will be open from 11am to 5.30pm.
Tickets can be bought at the gate on the day, or by visiting the website at www.snagbeerandbubblefest.com.au
Each ticket includes three free tastes of snags, beer, sparkling wine or cider.
One dollar from every ticket will be donated to the Heathcote Community House.
