Planning scheme comments sought
District residents are invited to make comment on an amendment to the City of Greater Bendigo’s Planning Scheme.
COGB planning and development director Prue Mansfield said Amendment C170 had been prepared to implement the Planning Scheme Review that was adopted by council in 2010.
‘‘This amendment will see the introduction of a revised Municipal Strategic Statement that sets out the planning objectives for Greater Bendigo and how the city will guide development and land-use outcomes,’’ she said.
‘‘The amendment will also update existing local planning policies and introduce some new ones.
‘‘Under the revised MSS, heritage is given a higher profile, climate change adaptation is recognised as a key issue confronting the community and greater emphasis has been placed on sustainable transport.
‘‘It also acknowledges the importance of major projects including the Marong Business Park and the Bendigo Airport re-development, however no re-zonings are taking place as part of the amendment.’’
Ms Mansfield said one of the aims of the amendment was to provide better links with other important documents, such as the Council Plan and Greater Bendigo 2036 Plan.
‘‘As the amendment is quite complex, the exhibition period has been extended from four to six weeks to allow the community extra time to consider it,’’ she said.
The amendment can be viewed at council offices or online at the website www.bendigo.vic.gov.au
