Heathcote's Carols by Candlelight at Barrack Reserve, Heathcote, December 14.

Saturday’s Carols by Candlelight at Heathcote saw a large crowd flock to Barrack Reserve in spite of the cold weather.

The Bendigo Marist Brothers Brass Band provided musical interludes and there were performances by several local artists, including the Black family, Pat Ward, Bianca Maes, Mudbrick Motley singers and students from Holy Rosary and Heathcote primary schools.

But the biggest hit of the night was Santa’s arrival on a fire truck, heralded by a blast from the siren.

A throng of eager children raced across the oval for a lolly bag from the jolly man in red.
