Golf upgrade plans
The Axedale Golf Club committee has been busy planning upgrades to the club’s facilities in the near and distant future.
By Nikala DixonThe committee has lodged a planning permit for a two-bay practice net area pegged out at the rear of the 18th green, but is also considering how best to use an area of land between the 13th and 15th tees which the club leases from Coliban Water.
President Graeme Rook said the plan was to redevelop the area in a few years to turn the 14th hole into par four and the 15th to a par five, provided City of Greater Bendigo approved any permits needed and the club could raise the funds to do it.
The club is also considering an offer from Belvoir Park Golf Club to hold an annual golf challenge which would take place at alternate courses each year.
Monthly medal winners for January were Ian Martin with 63 nett and Rosemary Griffin with 73 nett, while Bev Whelan was also in good form in the women’s medal competition, finishing runner-up with 74 nett.
