Clubs to benefit from heart-starter raffle
Heathcote football, netball, golf and cricket clubs are joining forces to help raise funds and promote taking part in sport.
By Nikala DixonThe football netball club and cricket club are running a joint venture to help raise funds for a mobile defibrillator unit which will be shared by the clubs.
The clubs are running a heart-starter raffle, which includes a Richmond football jumper signed by Ben Cousins, which was going to be auctioned at the football netball club’s corporate golf day.
Club president Andrew Conforti said the corporate golf day on Saturday and cricket big bash on February 19 were a great chance to raise funds for the defibrillator, but to also drum up support for junior football and cricket in the district.
The golf day has around 25 teams signed up to play, but the football and golf clubs are hoping for a few more teams to sign up before the big day.
‘‘We’re aiming for about 30 teams, so we only need a few more,’’ Mr Conforti said.
‘‘The footy and golf clubs are joining up to raise funds and we have some great items up for auction,’’ Mr Conforti said.
Supporters of the event who have recently joined include Tibaldi Meats, BJ Machinery and Sherbourne Terrace (Shepparton).
‘‘I believe we also have a few more sponsors and teams joining in from Shepparton, so it’s great to see some money coming in from outside Heathcote,’’ Mr Conforti said.
Raffle tickets are available from businesses in Heathcote, including the McIvor Times.
Anyone interested in supporting the event, donating raffle or auctions prizes or including a team of three in the ambrose event, needs to contact Brent Chapman on 0407
