Club to host golf challenge
Heathcote Football Netball Club will hold its annual corporate golf day fundraiser at Heathcote Golf Club on February 11.
By Nikala DixonHFNC president Andrew Conforti said the club was looking forward to the popular event, which was well attended last year and was one of the club’s biggest fundraising events for the year.
Essendon Football Club’s John Barnes and Dean Wallis will also attend the event as guest speakers, with memorabilia auctions including a Richmond Football Club jumper signed by controversial former player Ben Cousins also to be held.
District residents and businesses are invited to get involved by putting a team of three together to compete on the day, or sponsoring a’’’nearest the pin’’ competition, with the Union Hotel, Leroy’s Backhoe and the Wild Duck Winery already on board.
‘‘This is a good opportunity for the club to mingle with people from all walks of life and hopefully raise some funds and sponsorship for the club,’’ Conforti said.
Competition tees off at noon, with the event fully catered. The cost is $100 a person.
‘‘Get there a little earlier because we’ll have some food and drinks before we head off,’’ Conforti said.
‘‘We would like to thank Heathcote Golf Club for the opportunity to use their course, with a special mention to captain Larry Maxwell.
‘‘We would also like to thank everyone that’s contributing and helping out to hopefully make the day successful.’’
Sponsors also include Heathcote and District Community Bank, Segafredo’s Bakery, JG Gardner Homes, Hume and Iser (Bendigo) and Shepparton’s Pepper Inn, but Conforti said the club would love to see more sponsors for nearest pin competitions on the day.
