Tocumwal Pre-School students are proudly flying their KITE at the Tocumwal Lions Community Hostel.

Students for the last four weeks have been engaging in a new initiative – KITE (Kids Interacting with the Elderly).

The program sees students join residents for activity sessions, allowing the students time to interact with their new-found friends.

The project, now in its fifth week, will continue for another fortnight.

On Friday, 10 youngsters joined 10 of the senior citizens in making Christmas baubles.

KITE, which has been absolute hit, will hopefully progress into the new year.

A pre-school representative said the program was ‘‘really important, not only for the children but also for the resident. It’s a joy to see.’’
