BJCN will hold its final Community Cuppa on Wednesday, August 21 with secial guest Federal Member for Farrer Sussan Ley.By Hannah Nichols
The Berrigan and Jerilderie Interagency Network is looking to build its relationships with other agencies, networks and service clubs that meet in or outreach to the Jerilderie and Berrigan shires.
To help connect with these services, the BJCN has played host to three ‘Community Cuppas’ this year, with the last one to be held next Wednesday.
BJCN representative Margaret Graham and Intereach’s Jeanette Dundon said they were both thrilled with the response they have received from the Community Cuppa idea.
‘‘The next Cuppa will be held at the Finley RS on Wednesday, August 21 from 1.30pm,’’ Mrs Graham said.
Special guest will be Federal Member for Farrer Sussan Ley.
‘‘Ms Ley’s office expressed her interest in attending the Cuppa to see what BJCN are doing while listening to the concerns being raised,’’ Mrs Graham said.
‘‘Being the Shadow Minister for Childcare and Early Childhood Learning, she wanted to see what services are on offer while gaining a grasp on the children’s services available in our area,’’ Mrs Dundon added.
But the ‘Cuppa’ is not to be confused with a meeting, Mrs Graham pointed out.
It’s a social gathering to strengthen the network services within the Berrigan and Jerilderie communities, she said.
Afternoon tea is provided and attendees are encouraged to bring a business card to exchange.
‘‘The BJCN Cuppa is linking services, identifying gaps and avoiding duplication of services,’’ Mrs Graham said.
‘‘Right now I have received about 40 emails of groups expressing interest in attending.
‘‘Because Sussan is coming, we’ve had a lot of people wanting to come across and listen,’’ Mrs Dundon added.
‘‘It’s a great opportunity for people to come and listen to the service groups and Ms Ley. People will be able to go away with a sense of ‘someone is listening’,’’ she said.
The meeting will be held at Finley RS Club.
This is an opportunity to learn about Interagency members and the services they provide.
