Jerilderie Police abandon pursuit of dangerous driver

Jerilderie Police were forced to abandon a pursuit on Sunday after the alleged offender’s driving became too dangerous.

Jerilderie Police were forced to abandon a pursuit on Sunday after the alleged offender’s driving became too dangerous.

The chase occurred about 12.10am Sunday on Rifle Range Rd when police allegedly saw a white dual cab ute being driven in a ‘‘harsh manner’’.

Officers allegedly saw the vehicle accelerate away from them, skid out of control, spin in circles and almost collide with the police vehicle.

Eventually the driving became so dangerous the pursuit was called off.

Police are making inquiries to locate the driver.

Police are investigating an attempted break and enter on a Chanter St business in Berrigan on Sunday.

About 10.45pm people at the business heard noises like some one climbing the gate and were concerned.

No one was sighted, but backpack was later found near the gate, and a screwdriver in the carpark.

Neither item belonged at the business.

A rubbish bin was allegedly set on fire in Murray St, Finley about 11.20pm Friday.

The fire brigade extinguished the blaze.

Only the bin was damaged.
