Finley Chamber's considerate parking plea

Finley Chamber of Commerce and Industry is calling on Finley business owners and employees to refrain from parking in Warmatta and Murray Sts and blocking customer access to shops.

Coming into the busy Christmas/New Year trading period, Chamber is primarily concerned with the lack of valuable customer parking spaces.

The lack of parking could hinder a chance to boost the local economy during a busy shopping period.

Warmatta and Murray Streets encounter the most problems with a lack of parking spaces, according to Chamber, despite a restriction on parking times.

The parking issues have been around for a long time and it is not just the Finley community that is affected.

‘‘Parking in the CBD is limited at two-hours,’’ a Chamber representative said.

‘‘Community members, employees and business owners need to be considerate of this.

‘‘It is very important that over the holiday trading period that there are as many available car spaces as possible.

‘‘People travelling through town, practically along the Newell Hwy, would most likely not stop if they could not get a parking space.’’

Chamber also encouraged locals to try and ensure parking spaces are available for larger vehicles, like caravans and motorhomes.

Parking is available for caravans in Warmatta St and Endeavour St.

‘‘This is an ideal parking stop for caravans coming through town.

‘‘These spots need to be made available.’’
