Emily Raleigh was announced as the Jerilderie Shire Young Citizen of the Year on Australia Day.

The 2012 recipient has commendable qualities and is a great attribute to the shire.

Her leadership, academic and personal achievements are a credit to her dedication, drive and her parents.

Emily’s achievements date back many years, including captain of St Joseph’s Primary School and Dux of the school in Year 6.

She was also Finley High School captain and a member of the Student Representative Council (SRC).

In 2010 she was elected to the Riverina SRC and then became a member of the NSW SRC, a peak student leadership body for secondary students in the state.

As well as excelling at school, Emily has also applied herself and shown great leadership within various community activities.

She has enjoyed playing netball from a young age and gained a premiership medal during her time in the Under 16 team.

Off the court she was a key team member on the Jerilderie Shire Council’s Youth Committee for the Jerilderie Letter Event.

This extraordinary young lady’s hard work and commitment has paid off, earning her many stars including the NSW Superintendent’s Award for School Service, the Jerilderie Shire Council Sir John Monash Education Bursary and an impressive 94.8 score for her HSC.
