Boat, jet ski collide

A boat and jet ski allegedly collided on the Murray River near Tocumwal on Saturday. The crash occurred about 5pm near the Time Out Resort, but was not reported until the next morning when a man involved in the incident complained of back injuries.

A 17 year-old girl from Hoppers Crossing, Victoria, was allegedly riding the jet ski downstream with a passenger when the crash occurred.

A number of boats passed the jet ski, causing a wake, which allegedly caused it to ‘‘jump’’.

The 17 year-old allegedly lost control and both she and her passenger fell into the water.

According to police, the unmanned jet ski continued on and collided with the rear of a ‘‘tinny’’.

A 35 year-old man from Gisborne, Victoria was in the boat and was knocked over by the impact. The fall allegedly injured his back.

The man was assessed by ambulance officers the following day after his condition worsened.

NSW Maritime is investigating the incident.

Thieves raided a houseboat moored on the Murray River at Barooga between January 15 and 24.

A DVD player, TV, stereo, generator, amplifier, speakers, tools and a gas bottle were allegedly taken.

A 50 year-old Victorian woman was charged with low-range drink driving on Friday.

Locks on doors at a Jerilderie school were tampered with between 5pm Friday and 7.45am Monday. No entry was gained.

A vase attached to a grave in the Finley cemetery was knocked loose and damaged between 7pm Friday and 3.30pm Saturday.

Police patrolling Deniliquin and Murray Sts in Tocumwal on Australia Day issued four fines for incorrectly parked vehicles and trailers.

The vehicles and their trailers were allegedly parked across four parking bays.
