The news was not so good for the Saturday pennant teams. The Division 2 pennant team had to beat Numurkah Golf to stay in the hunt for a place in the finals, but unfortunately they were not good enough on the day, going down 103-89 (10-4).
Skipper and rink scores: M Rooney 17-29, R Bradbury 27-20 (picking up 7 shots on the last end), M Bush 28-20 and D Fruend 17-34.
The result means that Berrigan Sports cannot make the finals and next week’s match at home against Numurkah is for pride only.
Division 4 also lost narrowly, defeated by Numurkah 67-59. They play Cobram at Cobram next week.
The Men’s triples will be played on Sunday starting at 10am with entry for teams closing 5pm on Saturday.

Tuesday, February 7, saw the final of the Men’s Triples Board event played between the up and comers of Pete Dyhin, Laurie Deering and a spiritedly experienced Wally Atkins up against the fancied team of Ed Jarvis Walker, David Whiteside and Alan Whiteside.
After getting first points on the board the Dyhin, Deering and Atkins combination were able to hold off their competitors, who came back at them over the final nine ends but left their run a little late.
This is a first win for Dyhin and Deering in a board event, and Atkins has his name already there for a couple other events.

Ofelia Cochrane and Di Retallick finished runners-up last Thursday in the ladies pairs MBA final.
Both players put up a good effort coming from behind in both their semi final match and also in the final to go down by 2 shots to the Numurkah team.
A group of local ladies were treated to a wonderful game of draw bowling when Magpie Smith competed in her game of Champion of Champion singles at Murchison last Sunday.
Nan and her opponent went neck and neck for the first few ends before Nan slipped to 6 behind. But in true Magpie style, she gritted her teeth and dug deep — the scores were level again on the last end but with the luck against her, Nan went down by only 2 shots.
