Woman dies in collision near Rochester
A woman has died following a serious collision involving a car and a truck south of Rochester this afternoon.
Update 4pm:
A woman, 30, died after the car she was driving north along the Northern Hwy collided with a truck travelling 4km south of Rochester today.
Police believe the woman was from the Campaspe region.
The truck driver was trapped in the vehicle for 20 minutes before being freed by emergency services and was taken to Bendigo Hospital with minor injuries.
The accident happened at 2pm and police blocked the Northern Hwy around the accident scene.
Police expect the Northern Hwy to remain blocked until 6pm.
Investigations continue.
3.22pm:
Police have blocked off a section of the Northern Hwy about 5km south of Rochester following a serious two-vehicle collision between a car and a truck this afternoon.
SES and fire crews are also at the scene of the collision, which happened about 2pm, police said.
The Northern Hwy has been blocked to traffic in both directions between the southern edge of Rochester and Elmore and drivers are being diverted on an alternative route to rejoin the Northern Hwy at Elmore.
