Police caught two drivers above the blood alcohol limit on the weekend as part of a drink driving operation.

Sergeant Greg Watkins of Campaspe Highway Patrol said police carried out 1582 breath tests around targeted areas of Echuca on Friday and Saturday.

A Nanneella man, 28, had his licence suspended and received a court summons after recording a reading of 0.107 at 1pm Saturday in High St.

A Moama woman, 35, recorded a reading of 0.067 after being stopped next to the bridge at 11.30pm Saturday.

She was fined $423 and lost 10 demerit points.

Sgt Watkins said he was expecting to catch more drink drivers, considering the areas that were targeted, so he believed it was a good result.
