Thieves attempt to steal laptops from Echuca school

Two unknown offenders tried to steal six laptops from Echuca South Primary School on the weekend.

Offenders attempted to steal six laptops from Echuca South Primary School early yesterday.

Echuca police said an alarm at the school went off about 3.10am.

Two men, believed to be aged between 15 and 20, were seen running from the scene by security staff.

Police arrived shortly after, but did not find the offenders.

The six Apple laptops were found in a bag, which police believe the offenders dropped when the alarm sounded. The computers were not damaged.

Police will continue to investigate the incident and are appealing for witnesses.

Anyone with information, can contact Echuca police on 54822255.

The attempted theft is not the first for the school, with eight iPads stolen from the school’s technology room about a month ago.

Police were unsure if the two incidents were related.

Moama Bowling Club donated five iPads to replace some of the stolen items.

The school is fundraising to replace three other iPads and to buy other ICT equipment.
