Theatre company's weekend auditions
Echuca Musical Theatre Company will hold auditions for its new production, The Sound of Music, tonight and over the weekend.
By Ruth ClaytonDirector Heather Fullard said already 80 auditions were booked for the weekend, which was slightly higher than usual.
She also said other roles would be available for those interested in a behind-the-scenes position.
‘‘Work behind the scenes is integral to the production and includes costume-making and design, set design, building and painting, prop management and lighting, to name a few,’’ she said.
Ms Fullard said the musical was last performed by the theatre group 20 years ago and was chosen because it was ‘‘time eternal’’.
‘‘We think the general public like a popular show every now and again,’’ she said.
The first rehearsal will be on Monday night and the production will run for two weeks at the Paramount Theatre from June 2.
