Moama Anglican Grammar teacher Hayley Catt is overwhelmed to be nominated for a National Excellence in Teaching Award.
Mrs Catt, who teaches year 7 and 10 science and year 11, 12 and HSC biology, said she had no idea who nominated her, but felt honoured.
‘‘I was really quite flabbergasted,’’ she said.
‘‘I didn’t expect it at all. It absolutely threw me. You don’t think about that, you just do your job.’’
Although she didn’t know why she was nominated, she was grateful.
‘‘I would like to think I give a lot to my students,’’ she said.
Growing up in Finley, Mrs Catt started her teaching career at Moama Grammar five years ago.
‘‘It’s a great environment to work in. The students are so polite and staff are great,’’ she said.
‘‘I love the fact that every day is different. I do it for the kids.’’
