Shepparton man fined for campfire
A Shepparton man has been issued with an infringement notice for lighting a fire on a day of total fire ban.
A 39-year-old Shepparton man is $1100 worse off after being issued with an infringement notice for lighting a campfire on a day of total fire ban.
Police attended the Scenic Drive campsite along the Murray River on Friday night and issued the man with the notice.
The Echuca Fire Brigade tanker and ultra light were called to exstinguish the fire.
Echuca Fire Brigade captain Mark Hooper said people needed to be aware that fires cannot be lit on a day of total fire ban and be aware of fire restrictions.
He said there was plenty of ways people could find out about conditions.
