Rochester the big winner from recovery cricket match
Almost 1800 people flocked to Rochester Recreation Reserve for the Water to Wickets Twenty20 match to see Campaspe Cricket Association snatch a narrow win against the Australian Cricketers' Association.
A century from Bamawm-Lockington United captain Greg Pearse propelled the Campaspe Cricket Association to victory in the first-ever Water to Wickets match at Rochester yesterday.
The 42-year-old’s haul included 13 boundaries as the CCA made 8/161 in reply to the Australian Cricketers’ Association’s 7/158.
The winning runs came after Pearse hit a six off the fourth-last ball of the day to finish on 102 not out.

Almost 1800 people flocked to Rochester Recreation Reserve for the game, which was the highlight of the ACA’s three-day tour of Rochester.
CCA and Rochester United captain Dylan Cuttriss said it was pleasing his side was able to take the points in the exhibition match.
‘‘It was fantastic,’’ he said.
‘‘It’s nice to have Pearsey come out and hit them around everywhere. It makes it a little bit easier.
‘‘But, to play against some of the all-time greats is just fantastic.’’
Who was there?
Among the touring team, which was captained by former Victorian and Australian opener Matthew Elliott, were Terry Alderman, Jo Angel, Rodney Hogg and the speedy Mick Lewis.
The visitors also awarded a scholarship to Echuca South spinner Mitch McMullan after he snared two wickets with the ball — those of ACA openers Chris Rogers and Ryan Campbell — from his four overs.
The tour, which also included a sportsmans night hosted by Channel 10 presenter Brad McEwan on Saturday, will wrap up today with a schools cricket clinic for 300 children in Rochester.
