The Cat Empire will headline the 2014 Riverboats Music Festival.
Joining the acclaimed group are former Crowded House musician Tim Finn, former Something For Kate frontman Paul Dempsey and popular Cold Chisel guitarist and singer Ian Moss.
Don Walker, who wrote legendary Cold Chisel songs Flame Trees, Saturday Night, Choirgirl, Breakfast At Sweethearts and Khe Sanh, will also perform.
The festival kicks off on Friday, February 14 and runs until Sunday, February 16.
Other acts to appear include The Basics, Dan Kelly’s Dream Band, Wagons, Thelma Plum, Tinpan Orange, Mojo Juju, Sweet Jean and Liz Stringer.
The mix of Australian music icons and up-and-comers will take to the amphitheatre stage from lunchtime until late each day, against the backdrop of Echuca-Moama’s river red gums.
‘‘We are so excited to once again be presenting some of the most celebrated names in Australian music on the banks of our most famous river,’’ festival producer David Frazer said.
‘‘As one of Australia’s more boutique regional music events, in just two short years Riverboats has developed a passionate following among music fans who were looking for something a little different.’’
Riverboats takes place at the Aquatic Reserve.
‘‘Families and friends can relax on picnic rugs in the shade while enjoying a delicious range of regional food and wine, and the festival’s central location means attendees can easily explore the town, historic wharf precinct and natural surrounds, all within walking distance,’’ Mr Frazer said.
The Riverboats deluxe ticket is back in 2014, offering festival goers a two-hour river cruise aboard the PS Pevensey.
Accompanied by local catering and live music by Mojo Juju, the cruise takes place on Saturday, February 15 from noon to 2pm, returning for the start of the festival’s Saturday line-up. Once again, the Beechworth Bakery will be the location for the official festival breakfast.
The breakfast will take place on Sunday, February 16 from 9am to noon, on the top floor of the bakery, featuring live music and local produce.
