Long-term breast cancer survivors in the district are encouraged to share their story to provide hope and inspiration to women undergoing treatment.
Echuca’s Lily and Pearl Lingerie and Advanced Breast Care this week launched the ‘Be Inspired Inspire Others’ campaign to mark Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Lily and Pearl owner Deb Guy is inviting breast cancer survivors to share a poem, saying or experience that helped them through their treatment, by filling in a ‘pink footnote’ and bringing it into the store.
‘‘We will attach all the footnotes to our inspiration poster and display it in our store window during the last two weeks of October,’’ she said.
‘‘This way, the entire community will be able to share in their inspiration of our survivors.’’
Advanced Breast Care managing director Penny Dudding said the journey for women with breast cancer often prevented them from planning and thinking about the future and the campaign aimed to combat this.
‘‘Every week, there are many women diagnosed with breast cancer, but rather than focus on those statistics, we want our friends, clients and their families to be able to concentrate on the increasing rates of long-term survival,’’ she said.
Lily and Pearl stocks the Advanced Breast Care range, which includes breast prothesis and pocketed bras.
