Echuca police station

Echuca will have a new police station early in the 2016-17 financial year after funding was allocated in today’s Victorian state Budget.

Money to progress plans for a new school in Echuca’s west have been made available too but funds for planning a second river crossing were overlooked.

The bridge headed the wishlist of the Committee For Echuca Moama, Campaspe Shire and most residents in the region.

Treasurer Michael O’Brien announced a $14 million windfall for the new Echuca police station.

The government will pour $596,000 into planning in the next 12 months, with an expected pricetag of $12.1 million for construction.

The government expects the new station to be built early in the 2016-17 financial year.

More in tomorrow’s Riverine Herald.
