Murray Shire councillors call for investigation

BREAKING - Four Murray Shire councillors want the office of NSW Local Government to investigate a leak of what they believe to be confidential information.

March 4, 2014 4:10pm
The leak of information is in relation to the appointment of Murray Shire’s new general manager Margot Stork.
On February 21 the Riverine Herald published a story about allegations of gender discrimination that had emerged involving councillor Geoff Mackenzie.
Multiple sources told the Riv that as part of a November workshop, Cr Mackenzie had made it clear he would be against including a female candidate in the interview process.
In today’s Murray Shire meeting, Cr Ian Moon presented a letter to council requesting an investigation take place.
Crs Mackenzie, Ian Moon, Gen Campbell and Gavin Burke all signed the letter, which will be handed to the shire’s acting general manager Phil Higgins.
Mr Higgins said he would most likely hand the complaint directly to the inspectorate.
More in tomorrow’s Riverine Herald.
A copy of the two-page letter will also be available online tomorrow.
