The Murray Shire Council by-election will be held on May 11.

A candidates election seminar will be held on March 27, at the shire offices in Moama, from 5pm to 7pm.

It is estimated the by-election will cost between $43,581.10 and $56,928.30 to run.

Murray Shire Council will meet today at Mathoura at 1pm.

Councillors will vote on a 25-lot rural subdivision on Cobb Hwy, Moama.

According to the council agenda, the subdivision will create 23 residential lots and is proposed to take place in three stages.

No public submissions were received about the development and council staff have recommended consent be given for it.

Councillors will vote on a two-lot subdivision at Aberdeen Way, Moama.

The subdivision was refused at council’s February 5 meeting, but the applicant requested it be reviewed under the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979.

Council staff have not provided a recommendation, leaving it to council’s determination.

A vote will be held on an application to turn a vacant shop in Livingstone St, Mathoura, in to a pharmacy.

Council received about 40 submissions from the public opposing the development.

Council staff have recommended the development be refused.
