Future unclear for church land in Echuca

A controversial fire sale of 21 church buildings took place today in Melbourne - but was stopped mid-auction.

It is unclear whether a block of church-owned land at Anstruther St, Echuca sold by auction today.
The auction took place in Melbourne today.
The Riv understands the Uniting Church halted the controversial sale of 21 church buildings, located across the state.
Metropolitan media are reporting the sale was stopped mid-auction, as the church had raised money to repay its debts.
The church announced in May it would sell off property and buildings, including churches, following the closure of Acacia College in Mernda North, Melbourne, last year.
It is unclear whether the Echuca land was sold today.
More in Friday’s Riv.
