Kim Perkins, Brooke Wells, Katrina Watson, Tanya Pymer and Nicole Gillie have been meeting as a group about once a week for the past month.
When asked what some of the benefits of regular meet-ups were, the mothers said they were a chance to be social with each other, to get out of the house, to
get the infants socialising with each other and to get answers about ‘‘What’s normal?’’ questions.
Mrs Perkins, who hosted last week’s meet-up at her Elm St home in Echuca West, said she spent her first Mother’s Day going out for lunch with her family to celebrate.
She said the best thing about being a new mother was watching her son, Alby, who is 12 weeks old.
Mrs Gillie said she and her three-month-old, Evie, went out for tea on Saturday night with her mother-in-law to celebrate Mother’s Day then went for dinner
again yesterday.
She said she loved being a new mother.
‘‘I love all of it. I like seeing things for the first time and watching them grow every day,’’ she said.
For Miss Wells, her four month-old Gracey brought ‘‘a lot of happiness to Mum, especially the way she smiles’’.
Mrs Watson said she and her eight-month-old Ben enjoyed Mother’s Day lunch with family, including Miss Pymer and her daughter Maddie—Ben’s cousin.
The mothers’ group is set to grow to six in the next few months, with another friend about to give birth for the first time.
