Fire crews control grassfire near Echuca
A grassfire south of Echuca has been controlled. Fire crews will remain at the scene for some time to black out the fires.
UPDATE 3.21pm - The CFA says a grassfire south of Echuca has been controlled.
A spokeswoman said 20 crews were still at the scene blacking out the fires. It is expected some crews will remain in the area for some time.
She said the amount of land burnt was not yet known.
Smoke may still be visible near Echuca, Echuca Village, Simmie, Strathallan and Kanyapella South.

UPDATE 2.42pm - Nineteen fire trucks and two water aircraft are still battling fires south of Echuca.
A CFA spokesperson says a series of fires spanning a total area of about 9km are burning along the railway line.
No houses have been lost, but a hayshed has been destroyed.
The spokesperson says houses are still under threat and Echuca Village, Simmie, Strathallan, Echuca and Kanyapella South are still at risk.
The CFA urges people to follow their bushfire survival plan and not return to homes in the area as roads could be dangerous.

UPDATE 2.18pm - Homes are being threatened by a grassfire spanning 9km along the train line in Echuca.
Fifteen fire units from Victoria and NSW are still battling several grass fires and report some houses are under threat.
Residents in Echuca, Echuca Village, Simmie, Strathallan and Kanyapella South are being warned to be on the alert.
The CFA says a westerly wind is causing the fires to travel in an easterly direction.

12.59pm - An out of control fire about 2km long is burning along Echuca's railway line near Anderson Rd.
Homes and stock are under threat. The fire is spreading into paddocks east of the railway track.
Police at the scene were concerned about fuel tanks exploding at Echuca Aerodrome. It is believed they are now safe.
Nine Country Fire Authority trucks are now stationed there. The fire is burning toward the aerodrome, but is still about 100m away.
Some residents on Anderson Rd are evacuating. The fire has not jumped the road to where houses are.
The CFA says the fire is expected to impact Echuca and Kanyapella South any time within the next two hours. It is traveling in a southerly direction.
The CFA advises people in the area should follow their bushfire survival plans.
