Two people were taken to Echuca hospital on Friday following a collision with a garbage truck.
The accident occurred shortly after 11am at the Leichardt St and Hovell St intersection.
Echuca police Senior Constable Tamara McKenzie said the 88-year-old male driver of a Mercedes attempted to take evasive action.
‘‘The front passenger side of the car was damaged and as a result the truck blocked the passenger side door, which meant the 93-year-old female passenger was inside while crews worked to remove the truck,’’ she said.
‘‘Both the driver and the passenger in the car were taken to hospital for observation.’’
Sen. Constable McKenzie said the collision served as a reminder to drivers to take care on all roads.
‘‘You’re just as likely to have an accident on a residential road as you are on a main road,’’ she said.
