District gathers to celebrate Australia Day

Australia Day ceremonies were held around Campaspe Shire.

Campaspe Shire’s small towns shone in this year’s Australia Day awards, with residents scooping all of the shire-wide accolades.

Rushworth residents Harry Ashton and Jake Thompson won the Campaspe Shire Citizen of the Year and Young Citizen of the Year awards, while Tongala’s Shaun Mackrell was named Arts Person of the Year.

The day was celebrated around the district, with ceremonies held, flags raised and barbecues enjoyed.
