Four community meetings are planned this month to discuss the future financial direction of Campaspe Shire Council.

The meetings will look at the services council provides and who should pay for those services.

Mayor Ian Maddison said the council wanted to have a conversation about how to strike the right balance.

‘‘The outcomes will help shape our future, to set our long-term financial targets for the next 15 years and identify the best approaches for reaching them,’’ Cr Maddison said.

‘‘The conversation is about striking the right balance between providing the level of services that reflect community expectations and the funding available to council from rates and other sources in order to provide those services.’’

On Monday, December 9, a meeting will be held in Rochester at the Rochester Racecourse Recreation Reserve from 1pm to 3pm and in Echuca at the Echuca Civic Centre Function Room from 7pm to 9pm.

Another two community meetings will take place in Rushworth and Kyabram on December 11.

A discussion paper and survey are available on the Campaspe Shire’s website at and customer service centres.

Community comment closes on Thursday, December 12.
