A Ringwood man had to jump to safety after his car and trailer ended up in the Murray River.

November 14, 2012 4:11am

A Ringwood man accidentally drove his car and trailer into the Murray River while trying launch his boat on Sunday at 7.15pm.

Deniliquin police inspector Bob Tunks said the man put the trailer in the water at the five-mile boat ramp in Moama, and hit the accelerator, thinking the car was in drive.

Because the car was still in reverse, the car, trailer and boat all went into the river and the man had to jump out of the window of the car, before calling emergency services. The man was not injured.
