Rochester Fire Brigade received $100,000 for a new tanker on Friday.
Rochester’s captain Mick Hassell said the brigade was ecstatic to receive the funding to replace the 16-year-old Tanker 2.
Mr Hassell said the new piece of equipment was vital to have as a reliable back-up vehicle.
‘‘It’s always a worry if Tanker 1 is away assisting brigades in other parts of the state and we have a fire here
The brigade was unsure when it would take delivery of the vehicle.
The Bamawm Extension Fire Brigade received a $1891 grant for a kitchen upgrade and Elmore Fire Brigade received $845 for fire fighting equipment.
Bamawm Extension’s captain George Calleja said his crew was happy with their recently refurbished station but needed a few additions to the kitchen to make it more user-friendly.
Elmore’s captain Bob Simpson said he would buy two Protec branches with the grant.
The Protec nozzles attach to the top of the fire hose allowing fire fighters to control how much water was dispersed.
‘‘It saves on water when there may not be much around,’’ he said.
Member for Rodney Paul Weller presented the Victorian Government’s Volunteer Emergency Services Equipment Program grant to the brigades.
‘‘Our local emergency service personnel dedicate their time to protecting the community and it’s pleasing to see funds directed where they are needed,’’ he said.
