No-one was injured when a boat caught fire on the Murray River on Saturday.

Fire crews from Bamawm Extension, Echuca and Torrumbarry were called to the boat fire about 2pm.

The boat from Pakenham, was being driven into the bank on the Victorian side of the river, on private property near Casey Rd, when the engine caught fire.

Once the fire was out, the Bamawm Extension tanker was used to pull the severely damaged boat from the river.

Brigade members used a series of chains to pull the boat up the bank for the owner.
