Costello made the jump from Go-Karts to Formula Ford last month, successfully competing in – and finishing – the first round of the state series at Phillip Island.
In what was supposed to be his last race in the Go-Kart, Costello came second in his first crack at a senior division at the National Sprint Kart Championships in Newcastle.
It’s an achievement which may prolong his karting career after all.
Veronica Kelly and Melissa Larcombe became the best women’s duo in the state after claiming the state pair’s title in Bendigo on April 13.
