The Deniliquin Ute on the Pole is back on its perch.
It took workers from Brunker Fabrications, with the help of a Murray Constructions crane, only an hour to get the ute back in its place on Friday afternoon.
The activity in Charlotte St prompted some drivers to pull up and watch, attracted some staff and shoppers out of IGA supermarket and a drew a few ‘toots’ from cars passing by.
Some people even braved the rain to get out of their vehicles and take a closer look.
The red WB Holden ute has been the icon of the Deniliquin Ute Muster since 2000, when it was purchased on behalf of the muster committee by John and Denise Thomas.
The ute was taken down on July 23 for a make-over ahead of next month’s 15th anniversary Ute Muster.
It received a fresh coat of paint and buff from Riverina Panels, and is now a very shiny cherry red.
The new bullbar and side skirts were purpose built by Riverina Allweld, with business owner Simon Thomas personally delivering the side skirts on Friday.
The new-look ute is sure to be the envy of all muster fans coming through town for the October 4 and 5 event.
A time capsule has also been placed inside the ute to be recovered for the 21st anniversary event.
